What is Lip Filling?
Although there are many fillers used in lip augmentation, such as permanent/semi-synthetic or animal-derived fillers, the most reliable and widely used fillers are hyaluronic acid-based fillers.
Hyaluronic acid is a basic building material found in the connective tissue, enabling skin cells to retain water and giving the skin its volume. The most important feature that distinguishes it from other fillers is that the risk of allergic reaction or rejection by the body is very low. For this reason, natural-looking lip aesthetics is achieved without introducing a foreign substance into the tissue.
The most important factor in the success of lip augmentation is the quality of the filler used. The application should be done in a way that preserves the naturalness of the person's facial structure; therefore, it is not a standard procedure performed the same for every person.
For What Purpose Is It Used?
- Correction of asymmetrical structures in the lips,
- Clarifying the lip contour,
- Adding volume to the lips and making them suitable for aesthetic proportions,
- Correction of lip skin changes that occur with age, such as loss of volume, wrinkles and sagging lips.
How is lip augmentation done?
With an anesthetic cream applied to the lips 30-45 minutes before starting the application, the patient is ensured not to feel pain from the injection procedure. After the application of anesthesia, the filler material is injected with the help of a fine-tipped needle at the points predetermined by the doctor.
How Long Does the Process Take?
The procedure takes about 30 minutes, and the results can be seen immediately after the procedure. After the injection, there may be some swelling in the lips and bruising at the injection points as in any filling procedure applied with a needle, but this will go away by itself in a few days. Regional swelling may last up to seven days in some cases. There is no harm in using concealer in this process. Your doctor will call you again for a check-up about 1 or 2 weeks after the session, and if you wish, you can make minor touch-ups during the check-up.
How long is the permanence?
The permanence of the lip augmentation application performed with hyaluronic acid-based filling material is between 6 months and 12 months.
Although the application shows its effect immediately, it can be a problem to thicken the lips suddenly in people with very thin lips. Generally, in such cases, the lip is gradually thickened in 6 to 8 months by dividing the process into 2 or 3 sessions.
If you have thin lips, we recommend that the application be made by deciding on a shape that will be compatible with the general of your face, will not affect the proportions, and will provide both a natural and aesthetic appearance. Because lip augmentation injections made in wrong amounts and at wrong points can cause an unnatural appearance.
To Whom Is It Applied?
- For those with congenital thin lips,
- Those who experience age-related lip thinning,
- For those who want to have more voluminous and shaped lips.
Who Is Not Applicable?
- to pregnant women,
- For those with active herpes,
- For those with inflammatory skin problems,
- Persons with hypersensitivity to the material used.
