What is Acne?

Acne, one of the most common skin problems in the world, is a common skin problem that results in the clogging of hair follicles and sebaceous glands in the skin and causes acne. Although it is generally known as a condition encountered during adolescence, it is a disorder that can be seen in both men and women at any age. Skin problems such as acne/pimples, which affect 80% of the society, should be considered as a health problem. Acne formation can lead to deterioration of physical appearance, psychological problems, loss of self-confidence and depression, especially in young people. 

What are the Causes of Acne?

• Excessive secretion of sebum due to the overworking of the sebaceous glands in the skin,
• hormonal changes,
• bad eating habits,
• Stress and poor-quality sleep
• Insufficient water consumption,

• bacteria
• drug use,
• Genetic predisposition.

Depending on its severity, type and prevalence, acne can sometimes disappear on its own, and sometimes it can be resolved with treatment. As with every health problem, early diagnosis remains valid for acne treatment, because when acne is not treated, it can leave its place to permanent and serious scars called scars.

What Are Acne/Pimple Scars?

Acne/acne scars affecting the upper layer of the skin can sometimes be permanent. These are examined under 3 categories:

Boxcar Scar: Acne scars that are oval and round in size, 0.5 mm in depth and 2 mm in diameter, extend to the subcutaneous fat tissues.

Rolling Scar: It is a type of acne scar that has a 4 mm collapse character and creates a wavy appearance on the skin.

Icepick Scar: It is a type of 2 mm acne scar that looks like a nail-pierced scar.

What is Acne & Scar Treatment?

There are different methods preferred in acne & scar treatment. These methods include Fractional Carbon Dioxide Laser (CO2), Scarlet X, ICON Laser, Q-Switch Laser, chemical peeling and plasma energy systems.

The severity, type and prevalence of acne scars will also determine which treatment will be applied and how many sessions will be needed.

Laser treatments are one of the most preferred methods in acne & scar treatment.

Q-Switch: The acne problem can cause some brown spots, especially in people with dark skin. Q-Switch is effective on sensitive and dark skin with its fast and direct laser light.

Fractional Carbon Dioxide (CO2): It is a laser peeling method. With the application, rapid restructuring can be achieved in acne & scar scars thanks to the superior collagen stimulating effect of the laser.

How Long is the Processing Time? 

Acne & scar treatment takes about 30 minutes.

How Many Sessions Are Done?

Treatments consist of a procedure. Sessions can be increased according to the condition of the person.

What should be considered after the procedure?

Although redness may occur at first, the skin produces collagen over time; begins to heal and the scars disappear. After the first treatment, it is useful to protect the skin from the sun. It is recommended to use protective creams.

When Will Treatment Results Appear?

After the treatment, a dark reddish color appearance is obtained in the scars due to the growth of new blood vessels at first. As blood production slows down in the future, the skin will begin to heal and improve.

Generally, these treatments show improvement after 3-4 sessions.
